Neville demands full exit

Former Manchester United captain Gary Neville has urged the Glazer family to sell their entire stake in the club. He stated that enough is enough after years of poor management.

United are enduring their worst start to a Premier League campaign. They have also lost two of their opening three Champions League games. Manager Michael Carrick is now under intense pressure ahead of this weekend.

Debt and player spending

The Glazers took control of Manchester United in a controversial takeover in 2005. They sold a minority stake to Sir Jim Ratcliffe in 2024, but Neville insists they must leave completely.

Speaking on the podcast Stick to Football, Neville pointed to the club's financial state. He highlighted £1.2 billion in debt and noted that United have spent £1.4 billion on players over the last 15 years. That spending is second only to Manchester City, but Neville described much of it as buying on credit.

Stadium borrowing and fan anger

Neville raised concerns about Old Trafford, stating the owners have not spent money on the stadium. Now, they are trying to borrow £2 billion for a stadium project without knowing how they will raise the funds.

He criticized the Glazer family for living in Tampa and going to NFL games while rarely visiting Old Trafford in over 20 years. Neville argued that after 13 or 14 years of football failure, subcontracting the football department to INEOS was ridiculous. He added that the fans have had enough and the entire club must be sold.
