Suspension Upheld

Buffalo Bills safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson saw his one-game suspension upheld by appeals hearing officer Jordy Nelson. The league announced the decision on Thursday. The ban stems from an incident during Sunday's game where Gardner-Johnson spat at Las Vegas Raiders players. He was ejected shortly before halftime after spitting in the direction of tight end Brock Bowers and center Tyler Linderbaum.

Impact on the Team

Gardner-Johnson is one of two Buffalo players suspended for spitting during the road game. Defensive back and special teams captain Sam Franklin Jr. also received a one-game ban. Franklin denied the accusation on Instagram and appealed his penalty. Gardner-Johnson will miss the upcoming Week 8 game against the Baltimore Ravens because Buffalo is on a bye this week.

Bills coach Joe Brady stated on Monday that the team will not issue any further punishment beyond the league suspension. Brady also confirmed that Gardner-Johnson remains his starter when he becomes eligible to return in Week 9. Gardner-Johnson apologized to his teammates following the 33-30 victory and admitted he must act like a better veteran.
