Ready to step up again

Gabriel Magalhães has stated he is ready to take another penalty for Arsenal. This comes despite his miss in last season's Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain in May.

That match ended in a 1-1 draw in Budapest. Gabriel and Eberechi Eze both missed in the ensuing shootout. It was the first spot kick Gabriel had ever taken for Arsenal since joining the club in 2020.

Learning from the final

Speaking on Monday ahead of a Champions League match against his former club Lille, Gabriel addressed the difficult moment. He said that in the final, anything can happen and the team did really well in the tournament.

Gabriel added that his teammates helped him a lot after the match. He mentioned that he was sad to miss, but he learned from the experience and will step up if given another opportunity.

Support from Marquinhos

PSG defender Marquinhos immediately ran to console his Brazil teammate after the miss. Gabriel praised the gesture as brilliant, noting that Marquinhos had previous experience missing a penalty at a World Cup.

Gabriel spoke with Marquinhos later and thanked him for the support during a tough moment. He noted that he enjoys playing alongside Marquinhos for the national team and learns a lot from him.
