A Big Turnaround for Peralta

Freddy Peralta won the American League Championship Series Most Valuable Player award after helping his team win the pennant against the Cleveland Guardians. He went 2-0 with a 0.75 ERA in three appearances, which included two starts.

Reflecting on his path, Peralta said he had no idea where he would be in July. Rays manager Kevin Cash called him Fastball Freddy after announcing the winner on the postgame stage at Tropicana Field.

Strong Pitching Performance

Peralta relied on his strong four-seamer throughout the series. He gave up one run and five hits over 5.3 innings in a 7-3 win. He also tossed six scoreless innings in Game 2 and grabbed two important outs in relief during Game 4.

His manager praised his high velocity and his ability to make pitch after pitch. Peralta thanked pitching coach Kyle Snyder, bullpen coach Jorge Moncada, and bullpen catcher Charlie Valerio for helping him turn his season around.

Road to the World Series

The right-hander spent eight seasons in Milwaukee before joining the Mets in January. He then moved to Tampa Bay in an August trade. He went 5-2 with a 3.25 ERA in 10 starts for the Rays and earned the AL pitcher of the month award for September.

Next up, Peralta gets to face his former team in the World Series. He could pitch Game 2 in Milwaukee on regular four days of rest or pitch Game 3 next Monday at Tropicana Field.
