Oluokun Leads Jaguars to Victory
Jacksonville Jaguars linebacker Foyesade Oluokun put in another strong performance in Week 8 as his team beat the Indianapolis Colts 42-7. The linebacker, who has Nigerian family roots, made nine tackles, two tackles for a loss, and one sack.
He stopped Jonathan Taylor for a seven yard loss early in the first quarter, setting up a punt before Jacksonville took a 7-0 lead. In the second quarter, he sacked Dan Jones to help the Jaguars build a 28-0 lead by half time. Jacksonville moved to a 5-2 record on the season, bouncing back from a 34-31 loss to the Houston Texans two weeks earlier. His performance earned him his second African Player of the Week award of the season.
Johnson and Smith Njigba Put Up Big Yardage
Emmett Johnson had a strong game despite the Kansas City Chiefs losing 28-24 to the Denver Broncos. Johnson, whose parents moved from Liberia, scored on a 73 yard touchdown where he stumbled, regained his balance, and beat defender Taylor Rapp. He ended the game with 128 receiving yards on five catches, 15 rushing yards, and 44 kickoff return yards.
Jaxon Smith Njigba continued his good run for the Seattle Seahawks, picking up 118 receiving yards and a touchdown on six catches. It was his fourth consecutive game with over 100 receiving yards, though Seattle fell 34-17 to the Chicago Bears.
