Court finds striker guilty

Former West Ham United striker Michail Antonio has been found guilty of failing to identify the driver of his Lamborghini supercar. The court case follows an incident in central London last November when the car was spotted being driven without due care and attention.

Antonio, who now plays for Watford, claimed he was away in Manchester visiting his children at the time. He told Uxbridge Magistrates' Court that he had loaned the vehicle to a cousin's associate who runs a car rental business. He also argued that he did not receive the initial police letter at his home.

However, Magistrate Ian Comfort said the court was sure the police letter had arrived. Antonio was found guilty of failing to provide the required information.

Driving ban looms for Antonio

The striker, who is 36, now faces the prospect of an automatic driving ban. He already has six penalty points on his licence from a previous conviction for driving without insurance in July 2025.

This is not the player's only legal trouble. He is also scheduled to stand trial next March over a separate speeding offence in the West Midlands.

Antonio has a history of car incidents. In December 2024, his football career was seriously disrupted when he crashed a Ferrari in Essex. He suffered a badly broken leg, spent three weeks in hospital, and was sidelined for more than six months.

From Premier League star to Watford

Antonio is best known for his ten years at West Ham, where he became the club's top goalscorer in the Premier League. He left the London club in the summer of 2025 to join Al Sailiya in Qatar.

After making just four appearances in Qatar, the Jamaica international returned to England. He signed for Championship side Watford on a free transfer earlier this month.
