Squad depth brings a test
Eberechi Eze has opened up about handling the high level of competitiveness inside the Arsenal squad. Mikel Arteta sent out a heavily changed team during a Champions League fixture against Lille at the Emirates.
Arsenal secured a 3-0 victory after a dominant seven minute spell. Jurriën Timber and Bukayo Saka also found the back of the net to help the team overcome their stubborn visitors.
Eze scored in the 67th minute of the match. Saka had just arrived on the pitch as a substitute before delivering the ball to Eze, who slammed it home.
Accepting the challenge
Eze admitted that having a squad with so much depth across all areas can sometimes feel difficult. He has not started a Premier League game this season and regularly fights for the number 10 role with team captain Martin Ødegaard.
Every player wants action on the pitch. Eze stated that if you do not want to play, you are not in the right place, according to his interview.
The mentality centers on staying on the pitch, affecting matches, and earning a place. He added that he enjoys the challenge and the fun of linking up with talented teammates.
