More injury trouble for Philadelphia
The Philadelphia Eagles faced yet another injury blow during their Sunday game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Running back Will Shipley was officially ruled out after suffering a foot injury early in the match.
Shipley started the game as the main back because Saquon Barkley was sidelined with a hamstring injury and Tank Bigsby was out with an abdomen problem. Shipley managed to score his first career touchdown for Philadelphia before exiting the contest late in the first quarter.
Pierce steps up in the backfield
Once Shipley went down, Dameon Pierce had to take over the primary running back responsibilities for the Eagles offense. Carson Steele was brought in as his main backup for the rest of the game.
Shipley was previously listed on the team injury report last week due to a foot issue. However, he was not included on the practice report during this week before getting injured again against Jacksonville.
Long list of Eagles injuries
Philadelphia has dealt with a growing number of injuries throughout this season. Several key players were ruled out even before the game against Jacksonville started. Barkley, receiver DeVonta Smith, receiver Hollywood Brown, edge Jonathan Greenard, center Drew Kendall, and safety Marcus Epps all missed the match.
Things got worse as the match progressed. Defensive back Michael Carter II was ruled out due to an abdomen injury. Edge rusher Jalyx Hunt left with ankle and knee problems, while guard Tyler Steen departed with a shoulder injury.
