Injury updates for Philadelphia receivers

The Philadelphia Eagles will be without their top two wide receivers for the upcoming Monday night game against the Dallas Cowboys. Both DeVonta Smith and Dontayvion Wicks have been officially ruled out of the contest.

DeVonta Smith has been dealing with hamstring trouble since the summer when he missed a portion of training camp. He tweaked his hamstring during Week 2 against the Tennessee Titans. Smith mentioned recently that he believed getting dehydrated in the Nashville heat contributed to that issue.

He played through the injury the following week. After that, he missed two consecutive games. Smith returned to the field last Sunday against the Carolina Panthers, catching seven passes for 75 yards and a touchdown. However, he was unable to take part in practice at all this week.

Additional squad news for offense and defense

Dontayvion Wicks appeared on the practice report this week with an ankle injury. This upcoming match will be the first game he misses as a member of the Eagles.

There is better news regarding tight end Dallas Goedert. Despite missing the first two days of practice this week due to a knee issue, Goedert expects to play against Dallas.

The Philadelphia offense could also see the return of running back Saquon Barkley and offensive lineman Landon Dickerson. Barkley is dealing with a hamstring injury, while Dickerson has knee and pectoral issues. Both players are currently listed as questionable.

On the defensive side, edge rusher Nolan Smith has been ruled out with a concussion. Fellow edge rusher Jonathan Greenard is questionable with an ankle problem. Greenard spoke to reporters on Friday and stated that his availability will be a game time decision.
