Major injuries hit Philadelphia hard
The Philadelphia Eagles will be without wide receiver DeVonta Smith and linebacker Zack Baun for Sunday's game. Smith played every offensive snap in Monday's loss to the Chicago Bears, but he missed practice all week because of a lingering hamstring issue. He previously missed a large portion of training camp with the same problem.
Quarterback Jalen Hurts will also play without tight end Dallas Goedert, who is out with a knee injury. On the defensive side, Baun is sidelined with a concussion after playing most of the snaps against Chicago.
Backups step up to fill the gaps
Dontayvion Wicks is expected to take over as the primary receiver this weekend. Rookies Makai Lemon and Darius Cooper will also see increased playing time. Wicks expressed confidence about stepping into the top role.
Jeremiah Trotter Jr. will replace Baun at linebacker alongside Jihaad Campbell. Trotter stated he is focused on preparation so he can help the team win while facing the top offense in the NFL, which averages 418 total yards per game. Baun has earned Pro Bowl honors in each of the past two seasons.
