Key players sidelined for Philadelphia

The Philadelphia Eagles will play their home game against the Carolina Panthers without running back Saquon Barkley. Barkley has a hamstring injury and has been out since exiting early in the first quarter of a Week 4 loss to the Los Angeles Rams.

Quarterback Jalen Hurts is also out after being ruled out due to a superficial blood clot in his calf. Tanner McKee is slated to start in his place. In the backfield, Dameon Pierce is in line to get the bulk of the carries because Will Shipley and Tank Bigsby are also ruled out. Shipley was placed on injured reserve with a foot injury, and Bigsby has an abdomen issue.

DeVonta Smith returns to the lineup

Receiver DeVonta Smith will make his return to the lineup after missing the previous two games with a hamstring injury. Smith does not carry an injury designation for the upcoming match. When asked about his fitness after practice, Smith said he was good, adding that whether he plays is up to the doctors.

More injury updates on the roster

Edge rusher Jonathan Greenard plans to test his ankle pregame, though he carries no designation. Other players have already been ruled out, including edge rushers Jalyx Hunt and AJ Epenesa, plus safety Michael Carter. Linemen Landon Dickerson and Drew Kendall are questionable with knee injuries.
