Elbow Injury Improving

Seattle Seahawks backup quarterback Drew Lock says his right elbow is feeling much better. Lock missed the last two games as an inactive player due to the injury, which has troubled him for at least three and a half weeks. He was limited in practice and could not have started the previous two games if called upon. Coach Mike Macdonald noted that Lock's throws will be managed in practice this week, and the team is also preparing Jalen Milroe to play. Lock stated on Thursday that he expects to take every rep for the rest of the week unless the training staff decides otherwise.

Stepping In for Sam Darnold

Lock is in line to start Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals because Sam Darnold is sidelined. Darnold suffered a quad injury and a cracked rib during a loss to the Chicago Bears. Macdonald confirmed that Darnold is week-to-week and will not go on injured reserve. Lock praised Darnold for playing through his physical issues, calling him a soldier who cares deeply about the football team.

Earlier Success This Season

This will be the second time this season that Lock leads the Seattle offense. He previously played most of the first two games after Darnold suffered a glute injury. During wins over the New England Patriots and the Arizona Cardinals, the eighth-year veteran completed nearly 73 percent of his passes with four touchdowns and zero turnovers. Lock said he is very excited to get back out in the huddle with his teammates and throw the football again.
