Maye Addresses Shoulder and Turnover Issues
New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye has insisted that his right shoulder is fine. Despite being listed on the injury report for the first time this season, Maye was a full participant in practice on Wednesday. He says the injury is not affecting his ability to throw the football.
The Patriots have started the season with a 1-2 record. Maye believes the main issue is not moving the ball but making mistakes. He pointed out that turnovers are stopping the team from scoring touchdowns. He said that making better decisions is what makes and breaks play for quarterbacks.
Currently, Maye has completed 63.8% of his passes. He has thrown six interceptions and just one touchdown pass, alongside one lost fumble. In their last game, which was a 35-6 loss to the Jaguars, Maye was sacked three times and rushed for 18 yards.
Relationship with Mike Vrabel
There have been questions about the relationship between Maye and head coach Mike Vrabel. During the game against the Jaguars, Vrabel was seen putting his arms around Maye on the sideline after the quarterback's third turnover.
Maye has strongly backed his coach. He described Vrabel as one of the best coaches he has ever had and said he loves playing for him. Maye added that he respects how Vrabel coaches quarterbacks and wants to prove he can lead the team.
Vrabel also showed his support for the young quarterback. He explained that he chose to coach New England specifically because Maye was the quarterback here.
