Opening Pitchers Named
The Los Angeles Dodgers have named their starting pitchers for the opening two games of the National League Championship Series against the Milwaukee Brewers. Tarik Skubal will take the ball for Game 1. Yoshinobu Yamamoto will follow him on the mound for Game 2.
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts announced these initial pitching plans on Friday ahead of traveling to Milwaukee for a Saturday workout. Game 1 takes place Sunday at American Family Field, and Game 2 is scheduled for Monday.
Strong Postseason Form
Skubal comes into this series after pitching six innings of one-run ball against the Atlanta Braves in Game 1 of the previous round. The Dodgers acquired him from the Detroit Tigers in a blockbuster trade on August 2.
Yamamoto followed that up with seven innings of one-run ball to outduel Braves ace Chris Sale in Game 3. Against Milwaukee specifically during the regular season, Yamamoto allowed two runs in 13 innings. He also threw a complete game against them in Game 2 of last year's series.
Looking Ahead in the Series
Blake Snell will likely start Game 3 at Dodger Stadium on Wednesday, though Roberts has not officially confirmed his plans beyond the first two pitchers. Snell recorded only 11 outs in the Dodgers loss during Game 2 of the previous round. Tyler Glasnow stands as the likely option for Game 4.
Meanwhile, the Brewers are expected to start Jacob Misiorowski and Logan Henderson for the first two games. Skubal has allowed five earned runs in 12 innings against the Brewers this season.
