Henry takes responsibility for loss

Derrick Henry took full responsibility after his fumble proved costly in Baltimore's 13-10 loss to the Cleveland Browns on Sunday. Standing in front of his teammates in the locker room after the game, the veteran running back told them to put the defeat on him.

The mistake happened in the fourth quarter. Henry ran through the left side of the line for a 5-yard gain and a first down. Cleveland linebacker Carson Schwesinger made contact and pulled the ball away while falling to the ground at the Baltimore 35-yard line. Seven plays later, Audric Estime scored a 2-yard touchdown run to tie the game at 10-10 with 8:33 remaining.

Growing ball security issues

This was Henry's third fourth-quarter fumble since the start of the 2025 season, which is the most in the NFL. He has fumbled four times total since 2025 began, trailing only James Cook of Buffalo, who has five lost fumbles. It is a big change for Henry, who lost just two fourth-quarter fumbles in 136 games during his first nine seasons.

Late turnovers have caused trouble for Baltimore before. Last year, Henry fumbled late in a 41-40 loss to Buffalo and a 38-30 loss to Detroit. His latest turnover resulted in Baltimore's 17th blown double digit lead since 2018, which leads the league. The loss dropped the 4-2 Ravens into a three-way tie for first place in the AFC North.

Despite these errors, Henry remains a top player for the offense. The 32 year old ranks ninth on the league's all time rushing list. Since joining Baltimore in 2024, his 4,050 rushing yards and 39 rushing touchdowns lead the NFL. Teammates like safety Kyle Hamilton backed Henry, noting how many times he has saved the team. Coach Jesse Minter added that nobody works harder at ball security than Henry.
