Fighting spirit at Old Trafford
Tottenham are still searching for their first Premier League win of the season after six matches. That has only happened twice before in club history, during the 1955-56 and 2008-09 campaigns. Even so, manager Roberto De Zerbi saw plenty of reason for hope after a late 1-1 draw at Manchester United on Saturday night.
Bryan Mbeumo gave United the lead, and Spurs midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur was sent off. Tottenham kept working, and captain Dominic Solanke headed home an equalizer in stoppage time. De Zerbi even kissed Bentancur after the red card, calling his attitude the character the squad needs.
The manager praised the spirit of his team, noting that substitute Mateus Fernandes came on late and showed great commitment alongside the rest of the players.
Warm weather camp in Spain
Spurs survived relegation last season before spending heavily in the summer. Higher expectations followed, but results have been slow to arrive. Still, there was a positive mood among fans and staff after the performance in Manchester.
The squad is heading to Spain for a training camp before returning to play promoted Coventry on Monday. De Zerbi plans to use the trip to strengthen bonds between his players.
He said the main goal now is turning a group of talented individuals into a real team. He wants them to share meals, build trust, and stay hungry in training and matches.
Pressure builds at Manchester United
The late draw created a very different mood for the hosts. Manchester United are suffering through their worst start to a season in 40 years, and manager Michael Carrick admitted he was hurt by boos from the crowd.
United goalkeeper Senne Lammens said the squad must quickly get the sour taste of the late goal out of their system.
