Big blow for Barcelona
Barcelona will miss Dani Olmo for the upcoming El Clásico clash against Real Madrid. The midfielder picked up an adductor injury during the first half of Tuesday's 4-2 Champions League defeat to Paris Saint-Germain. He returned to Barcelona on Wednesday, and subsequent tests confirmed an injury to his left adductor muscle.
The club announced that the injury will sideline him for a month. This means he will miss league matches against Alavés and Atlético Madrid, plus a Champions League fixture against Aston Villa. He could potentially return after the November international break.
Squad struggles ahead of El Clásico
Olmo had been playing injury free for club and country since January, but muscle issues have troubled him throughout his career. Against PSG, Fermín López replaced him and is now likely to start at the tip of the midfield ahead of Rodri and Pedri against Madrid.
Barcelona face other squad problems for the weekend fixture. Eric García, Andreas Christensen, and Roony Bardghji will also miss the match. Jules Koundé remains a doubt with an ankle problem that kept him out of the game in Paris.
Looking to bounce back
Following their first defeat of the season in Paris, Hansi Flick's team want to return to winning ways when Real Madrid visit Spotify Camp Nou. Barcelona have the chance to continue their perfect start in LaLiga by securing 10 victories in a row. That result would build a nine point lead over José Mourinho's side early in the season.
