Dallas Cowboys Fall to 3-5 After Overtime Loss Against Arizona

Star Players Fail To Deliver

The Dallas Cowboys suffered a painful 33-30 overtime defeat to the Arizona Cardinals at AT&T Stadium. The loss leaves Dallas with a 3-5 record this season.

Despite having 14 players on their roster with Pro Bowl history, Dallas could not close out the game. Quarterback Dak Prescott admitted that big names are not enough to secure victories.

Prescott said that names do not win games and added that the team has the firepower and talent, but they must become a better team and put it all together.

Defensive Struggles And Offensive Collapse

Arizona gained 331 total yards, including 160 rushing yards in the second half. They achieved this even after losing starting running back Jeremiyah Love and receiver Kendrick Bourne, while relying on backup quarterback Gardner Minshew II in the third quarter.

The Dallas defense boasts stars like Quinnen Williams, Kenny Clark, Rashan Gary and DaRon Bland. Defensive tackle Kenny Clark called the defeat unacceptable, while linebacker DeMarvion Overshown said he was tired of learning the same lesson.

The Dallas offense also struggled throughout the night. Six days after rushing for 204 yards against Philadelphia, Dallas managed only 93 rushing yards, averaging 2.4 yards per carry. Prescott threw for less than 200 yards for the second time in 2026, and the offense went three and out during their only overtime drive.

Division Race Remains Open

Dallas remains second in the NFC East despite the loss. The New York Giants lead the division at 4-2-1, followed by Dallas at 3-5, Washington at 2-4-1 and Philadelphia at 2-6.

However, Dallas has struggled for consistency. They have not won consecutive games since Weeks 11-13 of last season, achieving back to back wins only once since head coach Brian Schottenheimer took over in 2025.

Schottenheimer noted that there is still a lot of football left and praised the character in the locker room. Owner Jerry Jones expressed disappointment, saying the team had a great chance at the end to win with their top players on the field but failed to execute.

Prescott Focuses On The Future

In 2018, Dallas started 3-5 before winning seven of their final eight games to reach the playoffs. Prescott is the only player remaining from that roster.

Prescott dismissed past comparisons, stating that talk is cheap and telling stories is cheap. He emphasized that the team put themselves in this position and now must write their own story.
