Dak Prescott Breaks Dallas Cowboys All Time Touchdown Record

Prescott claims the historic record

Dak Prescott is now the all time leader in touchdown passes for the Dallas Cowboys. He broke the record during Sunday's 37-20 victory over the Washington Commanders. Prescott entered the game chasing Tony Romo's mark of 248 touchdown passes and finished the day with 249 in his career.

His record breaking moment came in the fourth quarter. With just over three minutes left on the clock, Prescott threw a 24 yard touchdown pass to receiver CeeDee Lamb. It was his fourth touchdown pass of the match, marking his fifth career game with four touchdowns against Washington.

Prescott said he felt blessed and humbled to reach the milestone. "I expect to play for a long time," Prescott said. "And in my mind, I'm just getting started."

A dominant afternoon in Arlington

Prescott started his pursuit of the record early in the game. He threw a 3 yard touchdown pass to Lamb on the very first possession for the Cowboys. In the second quarter, he found tight end Jake Ferguson wide open for a 9 yard score.

Prescott then tied Romo's record in the third quarter. He fired a 12 yard pass to Ferguson, who made the catch despite tight coverage. The final 24 yard strike to Lamb sealed both the victory and the historic milestone.

The quarterback was already the franchise leader in several other categories. He holds the Cowboys' records for passing yards with 36,443, completions with 3,232, and attempts with 4,824. He also leads in passer rating at 98.2 and completion percentage at 66.9 percent.

Chasing championship glory

Over his career, Prescott has thrown touchdown passes to 39 different players. Lamb has caught the most with 37, while former receiver Amari Cooper is second with 22. Among his current teammates, Ferguson has 16, George Pickens has nine, and KaVontae Turpin has six.

While Prescott now owns the passing records, he still trails Hall of Fame quarterbacks in total victories. Troy Aikman has 94 wins and Roger Staubach has 85. Prescott has stated that his ultimate goal is to win a Super Bowl. The Cowboys have not won a championship since 1995, when Aikman led them to victory.
