Curry shines in Minneapolis victory

Stephen Curry produced a brilliant scoring display on Wednesday night as the Golden State Warriors beat the Minnesota Timberwolves 119-114 in Minneapolis. It was Golden State's second consecutive victory following a tough 0-3 start to the season.

Curry scored 44 points to mark the 46th time he has cleared 40 points since turning 30, extending his NBA record. Minnesota played their first match without Anthony Edwards, who is recovering from an arthroscopic procedure on his right knee.

Tactical plan and rookie contribution

The Warriors aimed to drag Minnesota center Rudy Gobert out of the paint by repeatedly using high screens with Curry. The tactic worked well. Curry took six shots in the opening seven minutes and added ten more in the second quarter. He entered halftime with 23 points and five 3 pointers, including a shot from 31 feet.

Golden State built a 24 point lead before Minnesota forced turnovers to close the gap in the fourth quarter. Curry secured the win at the foul line, finishing 16 of 16 on free throws, including seven in the final eight minutes. Rookie Yaxel Lendeborg added 26 points and nine rebounds, though he felt he played poorly after committing seven turnovers.

Turning the season around

This result completed a successful 2-1 road trip for Golden State. They had opened the campaign with three straight defeats, including a late collapse against the Memphis Grizzlies. However, a blowout victory over the Denver Nuggets on Monday and Wednesday's win against Minnesota have brought relief to the team.

The Warriors now return home to San Francisco for a six game homestand. Their next match is a rematch against Luka Doncic and the Los Angeles Lakers, who beat them in the season opener.
