First Half Struggles

Crystal Palace suffered a 3-2 defeat away to Lyon in the Europa League. Corentin Tolisso opened the scoring for the hosts and Ernest Nuamah doubled the advantage before the break.

Manager Pierre Sage admitted his team failed to show up in the first half. He noted that the visitors did not manage a single shot on target during the opening forty-five minutes.

Improvement After the Break

Yéremy Pino cut the deficit five minutes into the second half. Pavel Sulc restored the two-goal lead for Lyon soon after, making substitute Daichi Kamada's late goal a mere consolation.

Sage stated that his side improved considerably after the interval. He felt the second half efforts deserved an equaliser, though winning the match would have been generous.

Looking For Consistency

The result comes shortly after Crystal Palace bounced back to beat Nottingham Forest 3-1 at Selhurst Park on Sunday. Sage previously called for more consistency from his squad.

Sage spent fourteen months in charge of Lyon before leaving in January 2025. His reunion with his former club ended in frustration because of poor mental and tactical displays.
