Daniels fights to play
Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels is working to be fit for Sunday's game against the Indianapolis Colts in London. Daniels is dealing with a dislocated left elbow, which is his non throwing arm. He was a limited participant in practice for the second consecutive day on Thursday.
If Daniels cannot play, Marcus Mariota will start for the Commanders. Washington is currently 1-2, matching the record of their upcoming opponents. Daniels is staying positive and wants to be on the field.
"I love playing football, I get paid to play football," Daniels said. He added that he wants to lead his team and give it his best shot while protecting himself.
No fears over the brace
This is the second time Daniels has dislocated his left elbow. He suffered the same injury last season in Week 9 and aggravated it five weeks later, which ended his season. This latest injury happened during a Week 2 loss against Dallas.
Despite the recurring injury, Daniels decided against immediate surgery after consulting specialists in New York and Los Angeles. Instead, he will wear a special brace that keeps his elbow slightly bent to prevent another dislocation.
Daniels insisted he has no fears about playing. "That's what the brace is for," he said. "If I had that concern, I would have gotten surgery." He also stated that the brace does not change his throwing motion or how he hands off the ball.
