A Massive Party in London
Washington Commanders owner Josh Harris gave fans a massive surprise in London ahead of their game against the Indianapolis Colts. Harris stood on top of a bar at the BrewDog pub in Central London to announce free drinks for everyone in the house. His son, Thomas, chugged a beer to start the celebration.
Around 3,000 fans packed the bar, which was decorated with burgundy and gold balloons. Later in the afternoon, team president Mark Clouse ordered another round on the owner. The two rounds of drinks cost nearly 50,000 dollars. Harris said he wanted to take care of the people who traveled across the ocean or woke up early to support the team.
Dedicated Fans and Future Logo Plans
The event brought together fans from Germany, Holland, and the United States. One superfan known as the Washington Road Warrior wore a burgundy and gold crown and robe. He has attended Washington's international games and has been to every NFL stadium.
Fans at the bar also shared their excitement about the spear logo on the team's alternate helmets. The logo is a nod to the team's helmets from 1965 to 1969. The team wants to make this logo permanent by 2027, though they still have to clear several hurdles with the NFL and branding partners. Harris said he likes the spear because it brings history and warrior themes together.
