Home fans voice their anger

Frustrated fans at Lucas Oil Stadium let their feelings known on Sunday. What started as light booing early in the game grew louder until chants of Fire Ballard echoed around the stands. The home crowd was upset after Indianapolis dropped a game to a Tennessee squad that entered the day winless at zero and five. Players and coaches heard the noise and admitted the reaction was fair.

Coach Shane Steichen addressed the crowd response after the final whistle. He noted that the team needed to provide a better performance to earn cheers. Steichen stated that he did not blame the supporters for booing. Veteran defensive tackle DeForest Buckner also shared his frustration. Buckner pointed out that the team lost to a winless opponent, adding that he was angry and tired of recurring problems.

A costly collapse after halftime

The afternoon started well for Indianapolis before everything fell apart. The Colts built a 13-0 lead by halftime and controlled the statistics. They outgained Tennessee in total yards and held a massive advantage in time of possession. However, the home team suffered a complete breakdown in the second half by giving up twenty unanswered points.

Special teams mistakes, three turnovers, and late defensive failures cost Indianapolis the win. Quarterback Daniel Jones threw two interceptions, bringing his turnover total to nine for the season. Despite the ongoing issues, Steichen confirmed that Jones remains the starting quarterback. Jones admitted that his recent performances have lacked consistency.
