Preseason blow for Charlotte
Charlotte Hornets guard Coby White picked up a left calf strain during training camp. The team announced on Monday that he will miss the remainder of preseason.
White is twenty six years old. He signed a three year, seventy four million dollar contract with Charlotte over the summer. Fans expect him to play a big role this season because the LaMelo Ball trade left an open spot in the backcourt.
Injury list grows
White joins second year guard Kon Knueppel on the sideline. Knueppel suffered a left hamstring strain earlier in training camp and will also miss the rest of preseason.
The Hornets got White from the Chicago Bulls in February. He finished last season strongly with his new team.
White played a huge part in the play in victory over the Miami Heat. He scored nineteen points and hit a late turnaround three pointer in regulation to force overtime.
Looking ahead to the season
The Hornets start their preseason games on Tuesday night. Their regular season opens on the road in Brooklyn on October twenty first.
