Foot injury setback
LA Clippers wing Max Strus suffered a partial tear of the plantar fascia in his right foot during Sunday's preseason opener in Hawaii. The injury happened five minutes into the game when Strus cut across the lane to receive a pass. He pulled up lame, struggled to put weight on his foot, and limped to the locker room.
Tests in Los Angeles after the flight back from Honolulu confirmed the partial tear. League sources said on Monday that Strus will be reevaluated in four weeks.
Mounting injury concerns
This injury is the latest blow for a short-handed Clippers squad preparing for the upcoming campaign. Brandon Ingram is still recovering from heel surgery and a partially torn Achilles that was repaired in May. Ingram has only recently advanced to light court work and will miss the start of the season.
In addition to Ingram, veteran guard Bradley Beal is sidelined with right knee inflammation. Second-year center Yanic Konan Niederhauser is also out with a foot injury. The Clippers are scheduled to open the regular season on Oct. 21 against the Sacramento Kings.
