Young core driving Cleveland success
The Cleveland Browns sit at four wins and two losses in late October, holding top spot in a wide open AFC North. Head coach Todd Monken has built a team that refuses to be bullied by opponents.
Much of this success comes from the draft choices made by general manager Andrew Berry, along with assistant managers Glenn Cook and Catherine Hickman. Eight of the ten players selected in the first three rounds of the past two drafts are starters on the 2026 roster. Their recent draft picks have logged 2,802 total snaps this season, which ranks second in the entire league.
Impact players across the roster
On offense, wide receiver Denzel Boston leads all NFL rookies with 345 receiving yards. Wide receiver KC Concepcion, left tackle Spencer Fano, and right guard Austin Barber are also key starters. Running backs Quinshon Judkins and Dylan Sampson have shown talent despite recent injuries.
Defensively, linebacker Carson Schwesinger continues to excel after winning Rookie of the Year in 2025. He forced a big fourth quarter fumble against the Baltimore Ravens. Defensive tackle Mason Graham recorded four sacks before an injury, while safety Emmanuel McNeil-Warren stepped up after Grant Delpit suffered a concussion.
Smart trades positioning team for long term
Cleveland added draft capital by trading defensive end Myles Garrett to the Los Angeles Rams and facilitating a draft trade with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Those moves helped replace picks lost in previous trades.
The team now holds two first round picks and 11 total selections in 2027. Berry explained that trading Garrett allowed them to save 20 to 30 million dollars and add multiple good players while keeping the team ready to win right away.
