Early Exit Against Panthers

Green Bay Packers receiver Christian Watson left the field during the first half of Thursday night's game against the Carolina Panthers. He sustained a chest injury at the end of a long reception. Watson caught a deep pass for 53 yards and appeared to land awkwardly on the play.

Despite the heavy hit, he walked off the pitch under his own power. He proceeded to the locker room without any assistance before heading to a local medical facility.

Precautionary Hospital Visit

The team stated that Watson was taken to the hospital strictly for precautionary reasons. He climbed into the back of an ambulance by himself while still wearing his pads.

During the third quarter of the match, the game broadcast reported that Watson was returning to the stadium. Officials listed him as questionable to return to the action.

Strong Form Before Injury

Before exiting the match, Watson put up solid numbers for the Packers. He recorded six catches for a total of 100 yards.

The 53-yard gain marked his third reception of 50 yards or more this season, which leads the league. He also recorded his 13th reception of 20 or more yards this year.

Previous Health Scares

This situation is similar to an event from last season. On December 15, Watson went to a hospital in Denver to check for broken ribs during a game.

Those tests came back negative, and he returned to play in the next match. Meanwhile, tight end Josh Whyle was ruled out of Thursday night's game after suffering a concussion.
