More Offensive Struggles

The Los Angeles Chargers faced more trouble on Sunday during a 30-23 defeat against the Seattle Seahawks. Justin Herbert threw interceptions early in the game, and the offensive line struggled to block. The team committed penalties, and the defense tried to hold on. Despite sitting at 0-4 and having an offense that is struggling this season, coach Jim Harbaugh is standing by offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel. Harbaugh stated that his job is not in jeopardy, noting that he is a skilled coach and they will keep growing.

Herbert finished the first half with only 36 passing yards and two interceptions as the team fell behind 20-6. However, the offense improved significantly in the second half. Herbert connected on several long passes, helping the team narrow the deficit and giving them a chance to tie the game late in the fourth quarter. A late strip sack ended the comeback attempt, but Herbert expressed appreciation for the fight shown by everyone on the field.

Injuries and Line Protection

The offensive line had a very difficult day, giving up four sacks and numerous pressures while Herbert took hard hits. Injuries made matters worse as the team lost multiple linemen during the game, forcing them to finish with a line made up mostly of rookies. Wide receiver Ladd McConkey also left the game in the second quarter with a foot injury. Harbaugh admitted that protecting the quarterback is always at the front of his mind after seeing Herbert take so many hits.

Meanwhile, the running back rotation has changed over recent weeks. Omarion Hampton saw a reduced workload with nine carries, while Keaton Mitchell had ten carries and Kimani Vidal added five. Harbaugh explained that the rotation involves three good running backs and represents what is best for the team.
