A Tough Start in Los Angeles

The Chargers are off to an 0-5 start for the first time since 2003. Coach Jim Harbaugh stated on Monday that he and the team ownership group are in this fight together to turn the season around. When asked about pressure from ownership, Harbaugh mentioned the Spanos family and said they are shoulder to shoulder. He added that he is determined to reverse the course.

Dating back to last season, the team has lost eight games in a row. This is the longest losing streak of Harbaugh's career as a head coach. He played for the San Diego Chargers during a 1 15 season, so he knows what it is like to be in a locker room during a poor stretch. His message to the team is to keep fighting and keep being a leader.

Injuries and Recent Struggles

Injuries continue to hamper the group, especially in the offensive line and wide receiver rooms. Tackle Joe Alt is undergoing testing for a neck injury, and left guard Kayode Awosika is rehabbing a fibula injury. Four rookies started on the line against Denver.

At wide receiver, Ladd McConkey missed practice with a foot injury and did not play against Denver. Tre Harris picked up a hamstring injury and is week to week. Other receivers like Quentin Johnston and Brenen Thompson are also dealing with injuries. During the 23-17 loss to the Broncos, quarterback Justin Herbert threw his league high eighth interception and had a costly fumble. Harbaugh blamed himself for a fourth down call in the fourth quarter and apologized to the team.
