Boost for Seattle Backfield
Seattle Seahawks running backs Zach Charbonnet and Jadarian Price carry no game designations ahead of Monday night against the Chicago Bears at Lumen Field. Head coach Mike Macdonald confirmed that Charbonnet will play his first game of the 2026 season.
Price has been dealing with a chest injury that kept him out for the past four games. The rookie first round pick returned to practice this week and was a full participant in the last two sessions. Seattle must clear a spot on their 53 man roster by Monday if they decide to activate him from injured reserve.
Charbonnet Returns from Serious Knee Injury
Charbonnet is returning from a torn left ACL suffered during a playoff game on January 17. He had surgery on February 12 and has worked back to health in under nine months. Seattle activated him off the physically unable to perform list on October 22.
Macdonald praised the running back for his work ethic, calling his quick return remarkable. The coach added that Charbonnet already has the respect of the team for working through what it takes to return from such an injury. Emanuel Wilson and George Holani have filled in while Charbonnet and Price were out.
Key Starters Ruled Out
While the backfield gets healthier, Seattle ruled out three players for Monday. Left tackle Charles Cross has an ankle injury, wide receiver and returner Rashid Shaheed has a knee issue, and backup running back Velus Jones Jr. has a hamstring injury. All three left last week game against Kansas City and missed practice all week.
Cross has a high ankle sprain that could keep him out for one or two games. Starting outside linebacker Uchenna Nwosu did not practice this week either and is listed as doubtful with an ankle injury.
Reserve Players on the Injury List
The Seahawks listed four backups as questionable. Guard Anthony Bradford has a knee injury, quarterback Drew Lock has a right elbow issue, linebacker Patrick O'Connell has a toe problem, and defensive tackle Brandon Pili has a back injury.
Bradford had been a starter since 2023. A trade for All Pro guard Quenton Nelson shifted Grey Zabel to right guard, moving Bradford to a backup role.
