Trouble builds at Old Trafford

Manchester United are facing another difficult season after drawing 1-1 against Leeds United at Elland Road. The result leaves 45-year-old manager Michael Carrick under growing pressure. United have collected just seven points from seven Premier League games, leaving them 14 points behind league leaders Manchester City.

This marks United's worst start to a season since 1986. The team has won only twice across all competitions so far. Their last victory came on Sept. 10, when they beat FK Sabah 4-0 in the Champions League. United have also been knocked out of the Carabao Cup at the first hurdle for the second consecutive season.

Former manager Ruben Amorim was dismissed within 24 hours of a 1-1 draw at Leeds last season after criticising director of football Jason Wilcox. Carrick replaced him on a short term basis in January before signing a two year contract in May. Experienced managers such as Eddie Howe, Antonio Conte and Kieran McKenna are currently available if the boardroom decides to act.

Tactical tweaks fail to yield victory

In an effort to turn things around, Carrick set up United with a three man defence at Leeds. He put Andrey Santos and Carlos Baleba in midfield to protect Bruno Fernandes and Youri Tielemans. The setup gave United more structure, but it limited their attacking threat.

Bryan Mbeumo put United ahead on 35 minutes, but the team could not build on the lead. Six minutes into the second half, Leeds equalised when Dominic Calvert-Lewin scored from close range following an uncleared corner. The match ended 1-1, leaving United without a win since September.

Carrick maintained a calm posture on the touchline and in his post match press conference. He said, "We are not accepting that everything's great but sometimes you do struggle you have to find a way through it. We have to find a way through it. I understand the situation doesn't look great, but I have no doubts we can go on a good run."
