Pressure mounts after Como defeat
Old Trafford finds itself in trouble following a 4-1 defeat at Como in the Champions League. Captain Bruno Fernandes appeared to question the team approach in Italy. Carrick expressed anger with his players and went over to the supporters to apologise at the final whistle. The Red Devils are now without a win in seven games.
Injury woes and squad updates
United were without nine players in Como and still have absentees ahead of Sunday. Ayden Heaven is back with the group after suffering from illness. Leny Yoro is available again after suspension. Lisandro Martínez faces a race to be fit. Marcus Rashford has a hip complaint. Benjamin Sesko, Kobbie Mainoo, Luke Shaw, Patrick Dorgu, and Manuel Ugarte remain sidelined.
Mental preparation is the key
Carrick says his players must be mentally prepared to move on if they want to end their winless run against Bournemouth. He explained that physically the boys are recovering from a game and there is only so much training they can do out on the grass. The manager made an impassioned call for humility and self-sacrifice on Friday.
