Carrick rejects pressure talk
Manchester United head coach Michael Carrick has dismissed claims that his position is under threat after a difficult start to the season. The Red Devils have won just two of their opening six matches in all competitions, leading to early speculation about his future.
Carrick took the permanent job at Old Trafford after a highly successful spell as interim boss last season, where he won 12 of his 17 matches in charge. However, the new campaign has started slowly, with United suffering consecutive home defeats against Manchester City and Brighton.
Speaking at a news conference on Friday, Carrick made it clear that he is not worried about his job security. He stated that it is "ridiculous" to think his position is under threat after just a few bad results, adding that his future at the club is not even on his radar.
Taking the blame for poor form
The recent 3-2 loss to Brighton in the Carabao Cup was a major blow, as United threw away a two-goal lead. Following the match, Carrick took full responsibility for the defeat and insisted he will continue to shoulder the blame for the team's poor performances.
Carrick also responded to criticism from some supporters who want him to show more emotion on the touchline and during interviews. He questioned what people want him to show, explaining that while he hates losing, he cannot let his emotions affect how he plans for the next match.
The manager emphasized that he is happy to take the blame if it helps the team. He said that instead of pointing fingers, everyone at the club, including the players, staff, owners, and fans, must work together as a collective group to find solutions and improve quickly.
