Injury Concerns for Carolina

The Carolina Panthers are closely watching starting wide receiver Jalen Coker because of a quadriceps injury. Coker missed the entire second half of Carolina's Week 3 loss to the Cleveland Browns. He was listed as questionable on the final injury report on Friday.

Coker is the team's leading receiver this season. He has 18 catches for 222 yards and two touchdowns through three games. Coach Dave Canales said that practice squad receiver Ja'seem Reed will make his NFL debut against the visiting Detroit Lions if Coker cannot play. The team will monitor Coker all weekend to decide if he will be available.

More Lineup Changes

The Panthers already ruled out receiver Xavier Legette because of a knee injury. He will miss his second consecutive game. Brycen Tremayne and John Metchie III will fill his spot in the lineup. Tetairoa McMillan might also be asked to lead the group of fill-in playmakers against Detroit.

Carolina also ruled out starting left guard Damien Lewis due to an elbow injury. Recent waiver wire pickup Corey Bullock will replace him. Starting right tackle Monroe Freeling is in the final stage of the NFL concussion protocol. Canales stated that Freeling must be cleared by an independent physician this weekend to play.
