Injury Blow For Manchester United

Manchester United midfielder Carlos Baleba suffered a hamstring injury during Tuesday's 3-2 win over Roma at Old Trafford. The 22 year old pulled up holding his leg only moments into the second half of the match.

Baleba appeared to be in tears as he left the field. Head coach Michael Carrick consoled the summer signing as he walked off, and the manager later indicated that he expects the midfielder to face a long lay off.

Carrick Delivers Update On Midfielder

The 70 million pound summer signing was making just his fifth start for Manchester United. His debut for the club had already been delayed earlier this season due to an ankle injury that he picked up during preseason with Brighton.

Carrick gave an update on the condition of the Cameroon international after the game, admitting that the situation does not look good.

"I haven't got any more news on Carlos at this stage," Carrick said. "It's his hamstring, so we'll just have to assess what that looks like. Initially, it doesn't look great. Timelines, I haven't got much more to give you."

Baleba Set To Stay At Carrington

Baleba is almost certain to miss the match on Sunday when Aston Villa visit Old Trafford. Instead of traveling away, he is set to stay at Carrington during the upcoming international break.

United's medical staff will perform further assessments on his hamstring to figure out the exact extent of the injury and set a timeline for his return.

Dorgu Returns To Squad Training

There is some better news for Manchester United ahead of the weekend. Patrick Dorgu returned to training on Monday after dealing with a hamstring problem of his own.

Dorgu could feature in the match against Aston Villa at Old Trafford on Sunday, which provides Carrick with an additional option in the squad.
