Facing a 3-0 Deficit

Only one team in Major League Baseball history has come back from a 3-0 deficit to win a postseason series. The Los Angeles Dodgers now need to become the second after falling behind 3-0 against the Milwaukee Brewers in the National League Championship Series. To reach the Fall Classic, the Dodgers might need to channel the 2004 Boston Red Sox. That Red Sox team pulled off a historic comeback against the New York Yankees with help from manager Dave Roberts, who is now leading the Dodgers.

Trouble at the Plate

The main issue for Los Angeles has been hitting, specifically with runners on base. The Dodgers are batting .146 with men on base in this series. In Game 3, they got the leadoff man on in three of the first five innings and failed to score him. Meanwhile, the Brewers have played exceptionally well, showing great quality in their at-bats and utilizing a strong bullpen. Jake Bauers hit a notable home run for Milwaukee on the 11th pitch of an at-bat against Blake Snell.

A Small Ray of Hope

There is still a chance for the Dodgers if they can win Game 4. Tyler Glasnow and several primary relievers are well-rested for the upcoming game, while the Brewers plan to use a bullpen game. If Los Angeles wins, they would have pitchers like Tarik Skubal and Yoshinobu Yamamoto lined up for the next games. Max Muncy noted that the team set out to do something historic at the start of the year, and they will need to make more history now.
