Rough Night in Green Bay

Carolina Panthers quarterback Bryce Young faced heavy pressure during a 27-19 loss to the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field. He was pressured on nearly half of his dropbacks, taking six sacks and getting hit nine times in the game.

Young wore a brace on his left knee, which was injured in a Week 3 road loss to the Cleveland Browns. Despite taking a beating and struggling to extend plays, Young refused to blame his physical condition.

"I'm fine," Young said after the game. He added that everyone is dealing with something at this point in football and that nothing is an excuse.

When under duress, Young completed 6 of 16 passes for 46 yards and threw one interception. He managed just one pass completion over 20 yards the entire night.

Line Struggles and Injuries

Carolina's offensive line suffered from injuries and consistency issues throughout the contest. Left guard Corey Bullock, filling in for Damien Lewis, left in the third quarter with a quad injury. Practice squad call up Jake Curhan replaced him and gave up a sack shortly after entering.

First round pick Monroe Freeling started at right tackle with Taylor Moton out for the season due to a fibula and ankle injury. Next Gen Stats flagged Freeling for giving up four pressures and one sack.

Right guard Robert Hunt acknowledged that the Green Bay defense outplayed their protection schemes. Hunt explained that it was not a good performance and said the line needs to play better.

Panthers Fall to Three and Four

Head coach Dave Canales praised Young for his toughness after the game. Canales said that Young competes every week, and the team will keep trusting him as long as he feels strong enough to be out on the field.

The Panthers have now dropped to three wins and four losses after starting the season with three wins and two losses. Young set a franchise record with 11 touchdown passes across his first five games, but he has thrown only two touchdown passes over the past two weeks.

Through seven games, Young has faced 64 pressures. That is the second highest total in the NFL behind New Orleans Saints quarterback Tyler Shough, who has faced 69 pressures.
