Deshaun Watson is facing a decisive moment with the Cleveland Browns. The quarterback will make his second consecutive road start this Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. After this game, the team plans to evaluate their quarterback position.
The evaluation comes after a disappointing 34-10 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 1. While no final decision has been made for Week 3, the home opener could mark the moment Cleveland makes a change. If Watson struggles, Shedeur Sanders is ready to step in.
The Search for a Franchise Leader
Cleveland needs to find out if they have a franchise quarterback on their roster. If Watson does not prove he is the long-term answer, the Browns want to see what Sanders can do. Coach Todd Monken decided to stick with Watson after reviewing the game tape. Monken said that the team needs to play better around Watson, call better plays, and that the quarterback must also play better.
