Offensive struggles for Denver
The Denver Broncos are hosting the defending Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks on Thursday night, and both teams enter the matchup with 3-2 records. Wide receiver Jaylen Waddle has experienced a slow start to the 2026 season, which is part of a bigger malaise for the Denver offense. The Broncos rank 31st in the league in plays of 20 or more yards with only 11 so far.
Waddle sits 65th in the league at 11.3 yards per catch and 69th in receiving yards per route run at 1.63. That output falls far below his 2.27 yards per route run last season with the Miami Dolphins. Those types of figures pushed coach Sean Payton to retake playcalling duties from offensive coordinator Davis Webb after four games.
Seattle relying on defense
Seattle coordinator Brian Fleury runs an offense that ranks eighth in scoring at 26.8 points per game. However, the unit is also 25th in expected points added and 26th in efficiency metrics. Those flaws show that the Seattle defense and special teams have helped cover up some offensive inconsistencies.
The Seahawks lead the entire league in takeaways with 11. They also lead the league in points off turnovers with 44. Reporters Brady Henderson and Jeff Legwold are tracking all the highlights and key plays as the action unfolds.
