Brewers look to close out series

The Milwaukee Brewers get another chance to win their first World Series title on Wednesday night at Tropicana Field. Milwaukee holds a 3-1 lead in the series against the Tampa Bay Rays. A dramatic Game 4 on Tuesday saw Tampa Bay stay alive with a walk off single from Ben Williamson.

Game 4 was an exhausting contest. The two teams combined to use 15 pitchers over 23 innings in a game that lasted four hours and 20 minutes. A total of 367 pitches were thrown to 90 batters. Brewers manager Pat Murphy noted that his team drained a lot of pitching during the tight ballgame.

Misiorowski starts on four days rest

Milwaukee will start pitcher Jacob Misiorowski for Game 5. The right hander started Game 1 on Oct. 23 and is pitching on four days rest. During the regular season, he went 1-1 with a 1.64 ERA, 34 strikeouts, and three walks across four starts on four days rest.

The Brewers need a clean defensive performance to win. Their infielders have committed eight errors during this postseason, including two throwing errors from third base in Game 4. Milwaukee hitters produced 12 of the 13 hardest hit balls on Tuesday night, giving the team confidence in their offense.

Rays face pitching challenge

Tampa Bay manager Kevin Cash faces a tougher setup for his pitching staff. The Rays will likely rely on a bullpen strategy after using Game 1 starter Nick Martinez for two innings and 33 pitches in Game 4.

Game 2 starter Drew Rasmussen is an option to pitch on short rest after throwing 89 pitches in Game 2. Rays relievers Bryan Baker, Kevin Kelly, and Cam Booser remain available after light workloads. Tampa Bay will try to force high pitch counts against Misiorowski, who was pulled after 78 pitches in Game 1 and has not worked deep into postseason games.

Bullpen plans for the finale

Milwaukee has several relievers ready behind Misiorowski. Abner Uribe threw two innings on 19 pitches in Game 4, facing the minimum six batters. Aaron Ashby retired all seven batters he faced in 2 1/3 innings on 31 pitches. Trevor Megill also remains fresh after throwing just five pitches in his last outing.

If Tampa Bay wins, the series will return to Milwaukee for Game 6. A victory for the Brewers will earn them the World Series trophy.
