Small Ball Powers Milwaukee

The Milwaukee Brewers posted 12 hits, including 10 singles, in Game 2 on Monday. They scored four runs in the final four innings en route to a 7-4 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers. The victory gave the Brewers a 2-0 series lead as the teams turn to Los Angeles for Game 3 on Wednesday.

William Contreras hit a tying home run in the fifth and singled home the go-ahead run an inning later. The Brewers improved to 5-1 in the postseason. They are chasing their second pennant and first in the National League.

Dodgers Struggles Continue

Los Angeles is trying to become the first National League team to win three straight World Series. The Dodgers will need more punch from their lineup to have a chance at getting back to the Fall Classic. They mustered just three hits on Monday and went 0-for-4 with runners in scoring position to drop to 2-for-26 in those situations this postseason.

Los Angeles could not even get a boost from Yoshinobu Yamamoto. He entered with an 8-1 record and 2.14 earned run average in 11 career playoff appearances. Yamamoto lasted just two and two-thirds innings for his shortest postseason start.

Bullpen Seals the Win

The anticipated pitchers duel between Yamamoto and Logan Henderson did not work out according to plan. Henderson allowed four runs over four innings. Four relief pitchers combined to retire the last 15 Dodgers batters in order for Milwaukee.

Dustin May, JoJo Romero, Abner Uribe and Aaron Ashby shut down the Dodgers after Henderson left the game. Turang and Jake Bauers added runs batted in singles in the eighth inning to extend the Milwaukee lead.
