A New Era in Delaware
The Delaware Blue Coats have a new leader at the top. The G League affiliate of the Philadelphia 76ers is hiring Brad Jones as their next general manager. This move follows the departure of the previous manager, Ariana Andonian. She left the team last month to take a role running the Los Angeles Sparks in the WNBA.
The decision to hire Jones was made by top Sixers officials. Mike Gansey, the president of the 76ers, and Jameer Nelson, the executive vice president of basketball operations, led the search. They chose Jones to lead a team that finished last season with an 18-18 record.
A History of Basketball Experience
Brad Jones has a deep history in basketball management. He started his career with the Orlando Magic as an intern. Over time, he worked his way up to more significant roles. He served on the video and personnel staff for the team. This is where he worked alongside Jameer Nelson, who was a player for Orlando at the time.
For the past eight years, Jones has been a part of the G League offices in New York. He gained a lot of experience there. His work involved player contracts and transactions. He also dealt with basketball operations and player personnel matters. This experience in the league office gives him a unique view of how the system works.
Building for the Future
The Delaware team will open the 2026 and 2027 season on Nov. 6. They play at home against the Capital City Go-Go. Fans will be watching to see how the new manager shapes the roster for the upcoming year. Jones is expected to use his background in player personnel to help the team improve on their previous record.
