Bournemouth take control early
Bournemouth secured a strong 3-0 win over AC Milan in the Europa League. They are now three from three in the competition, making them the first English club since 1973 to win their first three matches in any major continental competition.
Justin Kluivert opened the scoring from an eighth minute penalty after Koni De Winter handled the ball in the area.
Red card changes the match
Things worsened for Milan in the 27th minute when goalkeeper Mike Maignan received a red card for shoving Tyler Adams in the face at a corner. Marcus Tavernier scored the resulting penalty.
Amine Adli added a third goal for Bournemouth in the 84th minute by slotting home a free kick. Milan offered little in attack throughout the contest.
Manager reactions
Marco Rose stated that his team will stay humble despite the big result. He noted that they need to keep proving themselves because the schedule is very demanding.
Ruben Amorim said the match was over as a contest after the red card. It was Amorim's first competitive match back in England since January, and he noted that his side must keep 11 players on the pitch to change their momentum.
