Changes in the Dodgers Front Office
Los Angeles Dodgers executive Bob Wolfe will retire at the end of the year after spending 14 years as executive vice president. His departure from the full time role will bring changes to how the team manages its top management structure.
Wolfe is not leaving the team completely. He will transition to an advisory role with the Los Angeles Dodgers once his retirement from his current position becomes official at the end of the year.
Responsibilities as Chief Operating Officer
In addition to his job as executive vice president, Wolfe has served as chief operating officer for the Dodgers for the last five years. That position put him in charge of the team day to day administrative and operational functions.
During his time in that position, he was also the club liaison to Major League Baseball. He managed communication between the franchise and the league while overseeing daily club operations.
A Long Career in Team Sports
Wolfe is ending a career in team sports that has lasted 47 years. His experience in professional sports goes back long before he joined the Dodgers organization.
Over his 47 year career, he worked with the Atlanta Hawks in the NBA. He also worked in Major League Baseball with the Atlanta Braves and the Washington Nationals. While working with those teams, he helped with both the construction and the operation of Turner Field in Atlanta and Nationals Park in Washington.
Reflecting on Forty Seven Years
Wolfe shared his thoughts on his decision to step down from his current job after nearly five decades in sports administration.
In a statement, Wolfe said, "Having worked 47 years in team sports, I've been more entertained than anyone deserves." He added that it has been a privilege to ride the coattails of so many on and off the field figures throughout his time in the industry.
