A Failed Transfer to Everton

United States striker Folarin Balogun has revealed that he would still be keen to play in the Premier League. This comes after his transfer deadline day move to Everton collapsed in dramatic fashion.

Balogun backed out of a move to the Toffees after Everton and Monaco started to restructure the terms of his transfer. Issues were raised during his medical examination at Everton's Finch Farm training ground.

Asked by talkSPORT if a Premier League move is something that he would still be interested in, Balogun said, Yes, potentially. Football has many twists and turns as we have seen after the World Cup. I was close to a transfer, didn't materialise, but for sure it is definitely an option.

Monaco sporting director Thiago Scuro said at the time that Balogun abandoned the move due to concerns over his treatment by the Merseyside club.

World Cup Controversy and Return to Monaco

The former Arsenal forward continues to play his football at Monaco, following a busy summer with the United States national team. Balogun put in solid performances at the World Cup, but he also found himself at the center of a major controversy.

Balogun picked up a red card against Bosnia and Herzegovina in the round of 32 and was subsequently banned from the round of 16 clash with Belgium. FIFA later overturned the red card and ban after a review request. Balogun was handed a suspended ban that allowed him to play against Belgium, but the team lost and went out of the tournament.

Monaco are currently flying high in Ligue 1 and sit at the top of the table after five games, sitting five points ahead of reigning champions Paris Saint-Germain. Balogun returned to action for Monaco in a match against Lens, which his side won 2-1.
