Aubameyang Makes LaLiga History

Deportivo striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has matched a historic LaLiga record after scoring in his fifth consecutive match. The 37 year old forward netted the equalising goal in Sunday's 1-1 draw against Getafe.

By scoring in the opening five games of the season, Aubameyang became the first player to achieve this feat since Zlatan Ibrahimovic did it for Barcelona in the 2009 to 2010 season. He is now one of only 10 players in LaLiga history to accomplish this.

Leading the Promoted Side

The former Arsenal and Chelsea star has enjoyed a brilliant return to Spain this summer, having previously played for Barcelona on loan in 2022. Before finding the net against Getafe, Aubameyang had already scored against Elche, Málaga, Valencia and Villarreal.

His goals have been vital for Deportivo. The newly promoted club remains unbeaten in LaLiga and currently sits sixth in the table. Aubameyang has contributed to seven of Deportivo's nine goals so far this season.

Deportivo captain Ximo Navarro praised his teammate after the match. Navarro said that Aubameyang is a global star and the team is doing everything they can to help him score goals and capitalise on his current form.

Coach Praises Veteran's Work Rate

Deportivo coach Antonio Hidalgo was also full of praise for the veteran striker. Hidalgo pointed out that Aubameyang made a stunning defensive run back in the 92nd minute of the game, showing his immense commitment and humility. The coach called him a role model with exceptional physicality and talent.

Aubameyang shared his thoughts on Instagram after the game, writing that it was a tough match but the team is racking up the points. Deportivo will now prepare to host Sevilla on Wednesday.
