Strategic Planning Beyond 2029
Aston Villa have made it clear that manager Unai Emery will be at the center of their long term plans. The club held an important planning meeting on Wednesday to discuss their strategic direction beyond 2029, which is when the Spanish coach's current deal ends.
There is no official confirmation of a fresh contract yet, but reports indicate that an agreement is close. Villa released a statement making it clear that Emery will lead their sporting project into the future. The manager arrived at Villa Park in 2022 and has made a major impact, which has attracted attention from rival teams across Europe.

The strategic meeting brought together the key leaders responsible for running the club. Villa chairman Nassef Sawiris sat down with Emery to map out the upcoming years.
The meeting also included Roberto Olabe, who serves as president of football operations, and Damian Vidagany, the director of football operations. They discussed building a squad capable of competing with the biggest clubs in world football. The group expressed a shared commitment to aim for excellence and to keep growing the team over the coming seasons.
Recent Record and Resolution of Media Dispute
Emery has enjoyed strong results since taking charge at Villa Park. He managed Europa League success last season and has guided Villa to Champions League qualification on two separate occasions. The team recently suffered a defeat against Barcelona at Camp Nou, a match attended by Prince William and Prince George.
This strategic announcement arrives a week after Villa settled a dispute with former England international Jamie Carragher. Villa had threatened legal proceedings after Carragher spoke on the Stick to Football podcast, telling fans to shut up after they criticised his comments about Emery potentially taking the Manchester United job. Carragher has since apologised, admitting his language was clumsy and wrong, and Villa decided not to take any further action.
