Villa Park misery continues for City
Manchester City lost their perfect Premier League record this season after suffering a 2-1 defeat against Aston Villa at Villa Park. The result ended the 100 percent start to the league campaign for City manager Enzo Maresca.
City have struggled on their recent visits to this ground. They have now suffered defeat in their last four league matches away at Villa Park.
Jackson double secures Villa victory
It was a difficult afternoon in the west Midlands for the visiting team right from the start. Marc Guehi made a costly mistake early in the match, which allowed Nicolas Jackson to score and put Aston Villa ahead.
Aston Villa held strong to protect their advantage until the interval. Goalkeeper Zion Suzuki made several vital saves to keep City at bay. Villa almost extended their lead before the break when Iliman Ndiaye crashed an effort off the post.
City managed to equalize in the second half when Erling Haaland scored his ninth Premier League goal of the season. However, Villa responded on the hour mark. Jackson scored his second goal of the match, taking his total to four goals for the season, to give Villa all three points.
Emery side build momentum
The victory marks a clear turnaround for Unai Emery and his squad after they experienced a slow start to the current campaign. This result was Villa first home league win of the season.
It also extends an impressive run of form for the Birmingham club. Villa have now picked up four consecutive wins across all competitions.
