Workforce Reductions at the Emirates
Arsenal are set to cut 60 jobs, which impacts up to 7 percent of the club's 871 permanent staff. Chief executive Richard Garlick informed employees about the reduction across several departments. The playing and coaching staff for both the men and women teams will remain unaffected by these changes.
This news comes shortly after Mikel Arteta signed a new four-year contract worth up to 20 million pounds a season. The manager recently guided the club to a Premier League title, and the organization posted a record turnover of 691 million pounds for the 2024-25 season.
Manager Comments and Squad Updates
Arteta addressed the expected job losses during a news conference, stating that the analysis was done to improve the club and put people in the right roles. He added that the decisions aim to achieve the success the club wants to create. The manager did not take further questions on the matter.
In addition to the staff changes, Arteta confirmed that Arsenal will retake the official squad photo. William Saliba missed the recent picture due to a medical appointment for a back problem. Arteta stated that another photo will be taken once the whole family is together, and noted that Saliba is completely fine about the omission.
Team News Ahead of the Match
Martin Zubimendi is in contention to face Nottingham Forest after sustaining an ankle injury in training following the win over Leeds. However, Piero Hincapié suffered an ankle problem during the same post-match session and will not feature in the upcoming fixture.
